Frequently Asked Questions

For donors and community members who want to help schools

Toko

Q1. Who is Toko?

We are a New Zealand company dedicated to helping schools fundraise more effectively.

It all began in 2024 when one of our founders’ wives struggled to find a New Zealand website to list the donations she had received for their Agricultural Day. She wanted to reach beyond the local community but found that existing platforms were either not dedicated to school fundraising, used a different currency, or charged high commission fees.

This inspired the creation of Toko—a platform that enables schools to raise money without fees while connecting with a broader community.

This isn’t just another fundraising tool, it’s a movement. We want every school in New Zealand to have a trusted way to rally their community around what matters most, supporting our children and their education.

Q2. Is Toko a charity?

No Toko is not a charity; however, our mission is to give back 100% of the funds raised through auctions and Buy Now sales. We ensure that everything contributed through our platform goes directly to the schools.

When schools, parents, alumni, and local businesses come together with a shared purpose, amazing things happen. We’re talking pride, real participation, and genuine progress.

Q3. Why is Toko so popular?

There are many reasons why Toko is so popular:

First and foremost Toko is a movement, not a marketplace. This isn’t about selling things. It’s about the school community showing up for what matters. Your school’s dreams and needs. Whether it’s new sports equipment, a school trip, or upgrading your library, Toko helps the schools and community to rally together around those goals in a way that feels authentic to your school’s values: community spirit, fairness, and student wellbeing.

Also there is:
No Fees for Schools – Schools receive 100% of the funds from purchases, services, and donations.

Expanded Reach – Most schools rely on their immediate community for fundraising. With Toko, they can connect with supporters worldwide. For exemple, students can sell their artwork, pottery, or request donations for school camps from family members abroad.

Support from Anywhere – Buyers and donors across New Zealand can easily browse projects and choose which schools or projects to support.

Great Deals for a Good Cause – PTFAs often secure high-quality products or services at a fraction of the cost. These are then sold to the community to raise funds. Buyers find great bargains while helping schools—everyone wins.
